In 2014 Donald Lee Fickey, a disabled veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam, partnered with his son Brett Fickey and founded Atlas Construction Group. Brett had founded a residential roofing company in 2009 that quickly grew into the installation of all types of commercial roofing; which expanded into multiple cities throughout the state of Texas. Specializing in insurance claims, Brett began to receive inquiries to take on additional trades and scopes of work on behalf of his clients; thus, requiring that a transition be made from a roofing contractor to a general contractor which became Atlas Construction Group. The company quickly expanded into residential and commercial remodeling/renovation projects, necessitating a name change and adding additional leadership.
Atlas Construction Group began to take on new construction projects in 2016; working with several nationwide corporations in the commercial, education, restaurant, medical, hospitality, healthcare, green building and retail industries. Atlas also received recognition as an approved contractor for both the Marriott and Wyndham International hotel corporations, handling the renovations of multiple hotel properties across the United States.
At the beginning of 2017, Atlas Construction Group brokered a new relationship with the University of North Texas and to date, has completed over thirty projects on their Denton, Texas campus. Additionally, in 2018, Atlas became an approved contractor for BH Management, a multi-family property management and developer company with over 2,300 employees and revenues surpassing $1 Billion. Atlas has dedicated staff solely to the development and cultivation of this business relationship and forecasts revenues in excess of $20 Million annually through the 2020 fiscal year from this one market stream.
Atlas has continued to expand its market growth in 2019, adding projects in aviation, with renovations at the Addison airport and new construction of an Executive Terminal at the McKinney Regional airport in McKinney, Texas. For the construction of the new executive terminal in McKinney, Atlas partnered with Lone Western Star Development, LLC / Western LLC and is looking to maintain a long-term business partnership in the new construction of additional aviation projects nationwide.
Additionally, in 2019 Atlas acquired contracts with EMJ Corporation, one of the top General Contractors in the nation. EMJ is ranked #101 in the ENR, and currently is negotiating contracts for additional work in excess of $100 Million in the 2020 fiscal year. As a result, in order to maintain high-efficiency and quality of work and providing the highest client support and satisfaction, Atlas has begun to explore adding an additional office in the state of Florida in anticipation of immediate, short-term growth in the 2020 fiscal year. After successfully completing its first two projects with EMJ corporation, Atlas gained and received recognition as being an efficient, high-quality contractor with exceptional safety standards and track record. EMJ had partnered with Elmington Capital, a commercial real estate investment, development, construction, senior living and property management firm. With annual revenues in excess of $4 Billion and through one of their principles, Mr. Rick Sweeney, EMJ has been contracted on two additional projects with an opportunity to bid on multiple projects breaking ground in the 2020 fiscal year in excess of $80 Million of potential revenue.

A service-disabled veteran, Donald Lee Fickey is owner and CEO of Atlas Construction Group. Donald, whose father had served in the Marines during World War II, followed in the footsteps of his dad to protect the freedoms of every citizen in these great United States, by serving in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. After returning home from Vietnam, Donald took a position with the Western Union Corporation as a technician and within a short time span of a year and a half, became a City Supervisor; responsible for all communications for the entire Southwest region. He was promoted to Director of Computer Communications and was responsible for managing Western Union’s transition from mechanical electronic switching to a computer-based system; all while managing six data centers and 490 employees.

all AT&T’s voice network to a VOIP (Voice or IP Network). In 1998, Donald was cleared through the NSA and given a Top-Secret SCI Intelligence Clearance in order to properly ensure the integrity of AT&T’s digital network. He retired in from AT&T in 2004.
Retirement proved to lack the challenges he was accustomed to for over forty years and the desire for a new adventure caused Donald to pursue some of the same passions he shared with his father growing up. After military service, his father had a long career with the Dravo Construction / Dravo Contracting Company; where he traveled worldwide to oversee and manage large-scale construction projects. Like his dad and benefiting from his father’s 50 years of construction knowledge, Donald Lee, began a new career in construction.
